Make Russia Great Again

This was the worst week of American diplomacy I can remember in my lifetime. Not Since George W. Bush’s infamous, “You’re either with us or you’re with the terrorists” gaslighting of the world, building up to the United States invading Iraq, a country that didn’t attack us, leading to 4,431 American deaths.

We got our version of 1938 British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain’s “Peace in our time”. Any treaty that Adolf Hitler signed might as well be used as toilet paper, as that’s what Hitler thought of diplomacy. The same goes for Russia’s dictator Vladimir Putin.

You have to understand the international diplomatic corps. These are the most calm, rational people on the planet. They always say kind words in public, especially in front of the cameras. Not the Trump Administration.

Sadly, the MAGA world just wants their Daddy Donald, while Trump just wants to please his Daddy Vladdy. Don’t believe me? Last week, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth ordered U.S. Cyber Command to halt offensive cyber operations against Russia.

President Trump said, “Our administration is making a decisive break with the foreign policy failures of the past administration.” I don’t know why Trump always attacks former President Biden and promotes Putin. Sad. Trump proposed that Ukraine hand over its mineral rights, saying the U.S. taxpayers “deserve to recoup the colossal amounts of money that we sent in military assistance the past three years.”

Can you imagine in 1940 at the height of the Blitz when London was being bombed constantly, if President Roosevelt said to British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, “Yeah, I know we agreed to that lend/lease deal, where we’re basically giving Britain war materials and food, and we don’t expect repayment. But England needs to give us something in return. We want your North Sea oil fields. It’s only fair. We’re tired of America being used.”

If Trump was President in 1940, most of the world would be speaking German today.

Last week on Truth (Lies) Social, President Trump attacked Ukrainian President Zelensky as a “dictator without elections.” He then blamed Zelensky for invading Russia. More lies. But what do you expect with Trump? A week later when questioned by a reporter, Trump said, “Did I say that? I can’t believe I said that. Next question.”

This past week the United Nations General Assembly approved a resolution denouncing Russia’s war in Ukraine, urging for a “complete, fair, and lasting peace” and demanding a withdrawal of invading Russian troops. 18 countries voted against this resolution, including Russia, China, North Korea, Hungary, Iran and… the United States. Yes, the United States now votes with the dictators of the world.

On February 24, President Emmanuel Macron of France, met with President Trump and Macron knows the rules of the game.

Bend the knee

Lick the boot

Kiss the ring

Trump demands deferential treatment from everyone, especially other world leaders.

Macron had to correct President Trump by reaching over and tapping on Trump’s arm to stop his lies. While Trump said, “America has contributed more aid to Ukraine than Europe and America’s aid to Ukraine was a donation, while Europe’s was a loan.” Both lies. At least Macron knew to correct him gently and not publicly call Trump a liar.

The next day, Great Britain’s Prime Minister Kier Starmer also corrected Trump that Great Britain’s aid to Ukraine was a donation, not a loan. But he too knows the rules of the game and said his words in a soft way, not to offend Trump.

Which led us to the Zelensky debacle, where President Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance insulted a foreign leader. Trump yelled at Zelensky that he hates Putin. I don’t know why Zelensky would hate Putin, a foreign dictator that invaded your sovereign country, dropped bombs, missiles and drones on your civilians for three years and wants to annex all of Ukraine.

To put things in perspective, in ten years of fighting the Vietnam War, the United States lost 58,220 soldiers. In just three years of fighting in Ukraine, Russia has lost an estimated 750,000 – 1,000,000 soldiers.

It was Zelensky’s fault he didn’t play by the “Trump Rules”. He didn’t bend the knee and kiss Trump’s ass. I think Zelensky had enough of being insulted by Trump calling him a dictator. The United States siding with Russia against Ukraine in the United Nations vote. Then a MAGA reporter asked Zelensky why he wasn’t wearing a suit, which is required when meeting with President Trump, and if he even owned a suit. Zelensky replied, “Yes, I own a suit and will wear it once this war is over.”

I wish he would have said, “I take my fashion cues from your King Musk. I believe he was in the Oval Office a few days ago in jeans and a T-shirt with his 4-year-old son. Did you ask King Musk why he wasn’t wearing a suit? Yeah, that’s what I thought. Sit down and shut the fuck up, you worthless hack.”

The whole world needed détente. Instead, we watched as our President and Vice President double-team to insult and berate a foreign leader on camera. Embarrassing! The Ukrainian Ambassador was in the front row with her hands covering her face as she couldn’t believe what she was witnessing. The United States is now the laughingstock of the free and democratic world while dictators loved how Trump insulted another country’s President.

Sanna Marin, the former Prime Minister of Finland said the best words of wisdom I’ve ever heard yet. “The way out of this conflict is for Russia to leave Ukraine.”

If you were born after 1949, then you’ve lived under the NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) treaty your whole life. NATO is a political and military alliance of countries from Europe and North American whose members are committed to protecting each other from any threat, primarily Russia.

For those of you who don’t read history, we need to start with the “Holodomor”, a combination of two Ukrainian words: hunger (holod) and extermination (mor). In 1932, Russia took by force Ukraine’s wheat harvest, creating a famine that killed an estimated four million Ukrainians.

At the start of WWII, both Germany and Russia invaded Poland in September 1939. Russia invaded Finland in the Winter War of November 1939. Russia then occupied the Baltic states of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia in June of 1940 and annexed these three counties into the U.S.S.R. two months later. Also in June 1940, Russia annexed Romania. Post-WWII, Russia decided to keep parts of Poland and Czechoslovakia, annexed Hungary, Bulgaria, Austria, and Eastern Germany, creating the Eastern Bloc. In other words, Russia has been a world aggressor and oppressor for almost a century.

I forgot Russia's invasion of Afghanistan in December 1979. I'm shocked J.D. Vance didn't get a better education when he said yesterday, “We're not throwing money and materials at a conflict with no end.” when that's exactly what the United States did during the Afghanistan war. We armed the Mujahideen and let them bleed the Russians. Same thing Russia and China did to the United Staes during the Vietnam War by arming the North Vietnamese Army.

Trump’s decision to stop arms shipments to Ukraine will have geopolitical fallout around the globe as the United States is now siding with Russia.

When it came to body counts, Hitler was a distant second to Stalin. Today, Putin wants to emulate Stalin.
